Help Wanted

As a project that is completely assisted and sponsored by the community, the Dojo Toolkit and Dojo Foundation need your help!

I recently added text on the Dojo Foundation site about getting involved and contributing, so I won't repeat that information here. Instead, I will focus on the areas where we (the Dojo Toolkit) need the most assistance:

Interested in working on a Calendar widget?

One of the more widely requested features we receive is for a full-fledged Dojo Calendar widget (think a lightweight version of iCal or Google Calendar rather than the more date picker like calendar we have in dojox.widget.Calendar).

I was recently contacted by Matt Simpson of Queens University in Canada, and after discussions, we decided that we'd see if we can get a calendar project rolling by starting something in dojoc, and then moving it to DojoX once it starts to evolve.

[Update] - Dojo.beer() - Munich, Germany - December 5th, 6th

[Update] - On December 5th and 6th, we are going to organize a dojo.beer() in Munich, Germany.
After having a great meeting in Berlin in May this year, we though it was about time again, to meet, talk Dojo, maybe hack some code and enjoy life :)

Mayflower was so kind to offer a conference room of their office in Munich to hold a few talks, exchange know-how and talk Dojo, so our schedule will look like following:

Friday 5th:

Meetup for dinner, dojo.beer() at 8pm at following restaurant:

Café am Beethovenplatz
Hotel Mariandl

Goethestrasse 51

Dojo 1.2 - So much sliced bread!

A lot has been going on in Dojo-land, and we're finally ready to push out the release. I have tentatively named this the 'Sliced Bread' release, as over the last six months each new item has truly felt like "the best thing since sliced bread". This iteration of the Dojo Toolkit has a very large delta, countless levels of innovation, cleverness, polish, and usefulness, as well as several internal changes regarding the overall project.

Dojo, floating on AIR

Today SitePen, Inc. announced the release of a co-sponsored "demo" utilizing Adobe's AIR runtime and The Dojo Toolkit affectionately named "The Dojo Toolbox". Don't let the term "demo" fool you though, this thing is a fully functioning application providing a pluggable API built around the question "what can be done offline to better Dojo?" ...

Announcing: Zend Framework integration of Dojo 1.x

Today marks a very exciting milestone for two great Open Source Products: The Zend Framework and The Dojo Toolkit. Zend aims to provide out-of-the box Ajax functionality capable of communicating directly with the Framework, and Dojo aims to provide the solution.

Intuitive Animation Toolset

The animation framework in Dojo is very flexible, but because of that flexibility, using it is not a trivial task for the common web programmer. The animation system works well for the JavaScript-savvy, but what if a Dojo beginner wants to add a simple animated effect to an element on the page? What if he wants to make that animation toggle?
